Bo-Kaap ( 23 August 2008 ) - Good value for money continues to draw property buyers to the Bo-Kaap or Upper Cape as the more English of our residents call it.

The area has a long history as a popular residential suburb among buyers in the City Bowl. ?Their position is excellent. They are conveniently situated between the Atlantic Seaboard and City Bowl and easy access to both major routes and tourist attractions.

But, it?s value for money that is really attracting buyers at the moment. Houses with two bedrooms can still be found in this suburb from around R 1, 3 million. And at the top end of the market there are even bigger bargains, especially in comparison with nearby neighbourhoods such as De Waterkant, the CBD and Tamboerskloof.

?For example, a few weeks ago we sold a townhouse for R1, 350, 000 in Bo-Kaap. The property offers two bedrooms, lounge, open plan kitchen and full bathroom. By contrast, we sold a two-bedroom apartment in the CBD for R1,500, 000.?

The record selling price to date for Bo-Kaap is R 4, 5 million. ?Most properties in these areas sell at around R1,5 m, but rand-for-rand, buyers are getting really good value for their money.?
